The Men of Independence Chorus is a men’s a cappella Chorus that was chartered on December 9, 2003, as an Ohio chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), dedicated to high-quality quartet and chorus singing of a cappella music, primarily in the barbershop style.
We are on our way to our 8th consecutive Barbershop Society’s International Contest in Charlotte, NC, where we enter the competition as the 13th finest Chorus in the world. Under the directing leadership of Mr. Gary Lewis, we qualified over 150 Barbershop Chorus’s in the US, Canada, and several other countries worldwide to compete in Charlotte!

Our chapter is comprised of approximately 80 male singers who enjoy both formal and informal quartet singing as well as high-caliber chorus singing. The chapter recognizes its quartet roots, and promotes quartet growth within the chapter, as well as quartet activity every Thursday evening during rehearsal. We always welcome established quartets to come and entertain!

We invite all interested men who would like to sing to visit and sing with the chorus! The Men of Independence meet every Thursday night at the Independence United Methodist Church, 6615 Brecksville Road, in Independence at 7:30pm! If you have “an itch” to sing, we just may have the solution for you!
